الوصف
الملخص:Polylactic acid (PLA) is the most widely studied as a very attractive polymer for food packaging applications. PLA is an excellent antimicrobial packaging that is to be successfully incorporated with antimicrobial substances to develop antimicrobial characteristics. Due to its merits, PLA is a leading biomaterial for the packaging industry replacing conventional petrochemical-based polymers. The main purpose of this review is to elaborate on the morphological and mechanical study that influences the stability, deterioration, and immiscibility of PLA nanocomposites film to fulfill specific application requirements. This review also summarizes the mechanical properties of nanocomposite films developed by the incorporation of antimicrobial substances into PLA matrix. Besides, we discuss up-to-date PLA modifications and nano formulations for a better understanding of the role utilization of PLA and its copolymers/composites/blends to maximize their fit with worldwide application needs. © 2021 Author(s).
