This chapter delves into the role of financial technology (fintech) innovation in promoting financial inclusion in underdeveloped and emerging nations, with a focus on Malaysia as a primary example. The examination concentrates on the interplay between women's utilization of fintech services provided by both traditional banks and other fintech entities, shedding light on the broader connection between FinTech and financial inclusion. Employing qualitative research methods, this study draws from primary and secondary sources, including journal papers, newspaper reports, and policy documents, for its case study analysis. According to the findings, more gender diversity on executive boards is related to the higher success of fintech businesses. We found that the higher the level of female finance and digital literacy, the smaller the gender gap in the inclusiveness of digital finance, and social and cultural factors also play a key role. In practical terms, this paper addresses a critical research gap concerning the role of women and fintech in enhancing financial inclusivity in developing and emerging markets. It offers valuable insights for fintech regulators and policymakers in these regions, aiding in the refinement of financial inclusion policies and their implementation. Moreover, this study contributes significantly to the existing body of knowledge by exploring explicit factors of financial inclusivity, particularly focusing on how women engage with fintech services provided by banks and other fintech firms. The study adds fresh perspectives by investigating women's perceptions and expectations related to fintech offerings, thereby advancing the field of fintech innovation research. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Firdous Ahmad Malik and Tarika Singh Sikarwar.
