Summary: | This study discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the income of B40 households, involving the cost of living and financial assistance obtained from the government. This study involved 650 respondents collected using probes and analysed using non-parametric statistics. The results showed that the income of the B40 group was affected during the COVID-19 pandemic. B40 is greatly affected by the cost of living following the transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the study findings that are important to mention is the targeted government assistance given to those affected for the survival of the B40 group in this challenging era. This study can provide valuable implications for the authorities in weighing the effectiveness of the financial assistance distributed to this group. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
