Summary:The characterization of nickel titanium shape memory alloy using universal testing machine offers a much-needed summary of the relationship between stress and temperature response. Such a characterization fosters a better understanding on the coupling effect of shape memory alloy. Focusing on the thermomechanical constitutive response, this chapter draws attention to the crucial quantitative evaluation of functional properties of nickel titanium shape memory alloy to develop a comprehensive shape memory alloy. Furthermore, a useful experimental process is proposed to establish a practical implementation of shape memory alloy in design applications. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd.
