| Summary: | Montro, as a form of performing art, is the result of a combination of various forms of communication media. This includes the expression of body movements as the basis of dance, sound and language elements as supporting elements, as well as the important role of make-up and clothing in creating aspects of fine art. All of these elements are integrated together to create a complementary appearance. The form of complexity of dance performances directs the viewer to a comprehensive understanding of dance elements which are basically not partial. The relationship that exists between musical elements and wiraga, wirasa, and wirama in the performance makes Montro's art an interesting phenomenon to uncover in understanding the meaning contained in it. The method used in this research is qualitative with a multidisciplinary approach such as: ethnomusicological, historical, anthropological, sociological and semiotic. The role of music in Montro's art has an important role in providing an aesthetic element to the performance. This can reveal what is contained in the meaning of the art. © 2023 The Author(s).
