Introduction: This study primarily focuses to investigate the occurrence of frailty and the factors that contribute to it among older adults with hypertension in China. Evidence have shown a consistent increase in the life expectancy globally. Consequence to this, is the increase in the number of older adults population. As the population age, they are usually accompanied by health challenges mostly long-term conditions such as hypertension. Materials and methods: Three online databases; PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science were access literature for this review. A total of nine articles that fulfil the inclusion criteria were found and included for this review in line with PRISMA guideline. Results: Findings reveals the prevalence of frailty among hypertensive Chinese older adult’s ranges from 9.8% to 42.4%. With regards to factors influencing frailty among older adults in China, depression and lack of adequate social support were the predominant factors that were found to be influencing frailty among this group. Conclusion: The study therefore recommends that adequate social and emotional support to the elderly hypertensive in China is consequential to healthy aging. © 2024 Universiti Putra Malaysia Press.
