Description
Summary:The agricultural sector faces escalating challenges from climate volatility, environmental degradation, and rising food demand. Digital twin (DT) technology offers a transformative solution by creating virtual replicas of farms for data-driven decision making, optimising crop management, and enhancing soil health. This study highlights key findings on DT's role in improving agricultural efficiency, sustainability, and resilience. Global case studies demonstrate successful DT deployment, although challenges persist in developing countries. Recommendations are provided to overcome these barriers. Ultimately, DTs are crucial for advancing sustainable farming, enhancing food security, mitigating environmental impacts, and aligning agriculture with global conservation and food security goals. © CAB International 2024.
