Summary:Comprehending the correlation between material properties and pipeline performance is critical in the field of pipeline integrity. The objective of this research is to examine the correlation between tensile strengths and elastic properties, with a particular focus on the axial and hoop dimensions, in relation to release pressure and various types of wraps. Furthermore, it was to investigate the impact of different wrap properties. By employing a methodical sensitivity analysis approach, the characteristics of the Wrap control were modified at 25%, 50%, and 75% increments and decrements, respectively. The results of this study suggest that although tensile strengths and burst pressures are generally correlated, particularly in the direction of the hoop, specific anomalies demonstrate that tensile strength is not the only factor influencing burst pressure. The findings emphasize the importance of a comprehensive comprehension of material behaviors when attempting to forecast pipeline performance. They provide support for more extensive inquiries that consider additional intrinsic and extrinsic factors. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
