The Covid-19 epidemic is having a serious negative impact on small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). This study's goal was to investigate potential avenues for SME e-commerce growth on a global scale. Gaining a better grasp of small and medium-sized businesses’ chances in online commerce can be achieved by investigating the possible effects of e-commerce on their expansion. Journal articles from the years 1997 to 2023 were collected for this study's analysis. The review approach is divided into three independent steps: choosing journals, creating key categories and an analysis framework, and choosing papers. The results demonstrate that adoption of e-commerceAdoption of e-commerce is positively impacted by perceived compatibility and difficulty. But under regular conditions, the open innovation paradigm is workable. The adoption of e-commerce is minimally affected through the sharing of expertise and management philosophy. These findings will help researchers and SME managers in the Asia Pacific region deal with the COVID-19 pandemic's issues and hire more skilled workers. According to this survey, SMEs should modernize their systems by hiring qualified personnel. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
