Summary: | This study investigates the design and performance of truncated corner patch antennas on Rogers 5870 and FR-4 substrates for UHF RFID applications. Using CST Studio Suite 2023, antennas were designed, simulated, and optimized for the 919-923 MHz Malaysian UHF RFID band. Key performance metrics, including return loss, gain, and VSWR, were analyzed. Results show that Rogers 5870 outperformed FR-4 in most metrics, with better return loss (-41.72 dB vs -23.82 dB), higher gain (5.51 dBi vs 4.29 dBi), and improved VSWR (1.10 vs 1.32). However, FR-4 offered advantages in size and bandwidth. The study concludes that substrate selection should balance performance, size, and cost considerations based on specific application requirements, providing valuable insights for UHF RFID system optimization. © 2024 IEEE. |
