Description
Summary:This study details the development of a smart plant monitoring and irrigation control system specifically designed for Peace Lily plants, leveraging the NodeMCU IoT platform. The project targets common challenges faced by novice gardeners, such as the demanding tasks of watering and monitoring plant health. The system integrates various sensors to gather real-time data on crucial environmental factors, including soil moisture, temperature, and humidity. This data is wirelessly transmitted to a dedicated mobile application, Blynk, enabling users to remotely monitor the plant's conditions. The system features an automated irrigation control mechanism, where the soil moisture sensor sends a notification to the user through the Blynk app when moisture levels drop below a critical threshold. Users can then remotely activate the water pump to maintain optimal soil moisture levels. This automation simplifies the irrigation process and provides comprehensive plant health monitoring, empowering users to make data-driven decisions to ensure the well-being of their Peace Lilies. A five-week experiment was conducted to compare the performance of the automated irrigation system using two different types of soil. The expected outcomes include maintaining soil moisture within the optimal range of 40-70% and keeping temperature and humidity within suitable levels. The study also assesses the system's effectiveness in providing real-time data and notifications to users, ultimately aiming to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of Peace Lily cultivation. © 2024 IEEE.
