Is there a significant difference in the management of these two waqf hotels, as far as the organization that manages them? This study also explores the connection between waqf principles and hotel management, with a particular emphasis on the distribution of waqf benefits generated by the waqf hotel business. The goal is to investigate different perspectives on decision-making, challenges, and achievements in the sector. A semi-structured interview was conducted with two representatives from SIRC and one from Yayasan Wakaf Malaysia (YWM), both of whom manage waqf hotels. This research is guided by the principles of Fiqh Al-Awlawiyyat, which provides a thorough understanding of Islamic legal principles governing waqf and contemporary hotel management. Two waqf hotels have been chosen for a review of the management style and ownership structure using the criteria that have been established. Interview data was thematically analyzed to identify recurring patterns and gain valuable insights. Preliminary findings demonstrate the importance of community support for this waqf hotel to optimize profits. Muslims bear a great deal of responsibility if they understand that the money, they spend to stay at this waqf hotel is for the benefit of third parties in need of assistance. This study makes practical recommendations for improving the sustainability and effectiveness of waqf hotels; ongoing promotion and awareness should be prioritized. Muslims must understand that choosing a waqf hotel is a responsibility, not an option. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
