Summary: | As a kind of traditional Chinese motif, the wave motif appeared as early as in the Neolithic age, and has been utilized in various artistic works, daily utensils, and decorative objects in the Song Dynasty. This study explores the visual features of the wave elements in the pictorial maps, combined with the analysis of Chinese painting theory and water culture. Through this study, the wave motif's value, including visual and cultural value, can be found and utilized in contemporary tourist maps.
