Global demand for cross-border higher education during the post-COVID-19 pandemic is currently escalating. This is further evidenced by the expected massive growth in both the number of tertiary students and the higher education market. Also, half of the cross-border demand is generated by tertiary students from the Asian continent. Thus, Malaysia needs to take bold steps in offering more public seats for the Asian ‘glocal’ students. Though this is not a new thing, Malaysia has almost lost its Midas touch that was gained throughout its golden years. For that, this chapter is written to analyse international enrolments in that period. A detailed analysis has been divided into sub-continents and countries, levels of study, and types of gender. Relevant measures are also listed to put Malaysia back on track for becoming one of the major recipient countries for international students by 2025. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
