With the increasing threat of climate change, Malaysia’s food systems are at risk, endangering the well-being of its fast-expanding population. The intersection between climate change and food security in Malaysia is an intricate fabric created by increasing temperatures, unpredictable rainfall patterns, and a growing occurrence of extreme weather events. This study employed bibliometric analysis to investigate 62 indexed studies retrieved from the Scopus database between 2011 and 2023. These articles were selected based on specific search terms related to food security and climate change in Malaysia. The bibliometric data was condensed using Microsoft Excel 2021. An analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between food security and climate change in Malaysia. The analysis reviewed the documents by year, countries or territories, topic areas, and affiliations. The study utilised VOSViewer and Harzing’s Publish or Perish software to analyse and construct a keyword map that visually represents the most influential co-occurring keywords in the papers. Additionally, the program produced a co-authorship network based on the keyword data and determined the total number of citations reported by Scopus. The number of publications began to change in 2023. Nevertheless, the research in this domain remains inconclusive. Therefore, this model is a valuable instrument that aims to enhance our comprehension of the interplay between food security and climate change. By examining the complex interrelationships between these two forces via bibliometric analysis, we acquire vital knowledge about the obstacles and possibilities that await us. To successfully navigate this intricate environment and guarantee a future where Malaysians have enough food, it is crucial to embrace innovation, encourage collaboration, and prioritise adaptation, especially in light of the changing climate. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
