Sick building syndrome (SBS) is common in poorly maintained buildings due to poor air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, and others. Due to the building's construction and age, this study investigates the spatial risk level of SBS at the administration building of the College of Built Environment (CBE) at UiTM Shah Alam using the Geographical Information System-Multi Criteria Decision-Making (GIS-MCDM) method and the JKR’s SBS criteria in a physical context. The study interviewed staff and the original owners of the space to obtain the estimated risk level of the SBS, while ArcGIS Pro visualised a 2D risk map based on the floor plan and the risk level. Based on the survey questionnaire, the respondents agreed that ventilation and air conditioning systems are the dominant criteria or factors for SBS. The finding revealed that before the 2020 renovation, there were many issues with ventilation and air conditioning, but after the renovation, the issues decreased. Although the CBE space is still relevant as a secure workplace, SBS still had an impact on some of the CBE spaces. Therefore, regular maintenance activities should be conducted with sustainable solutions towards a healthier campus and a safe space for building construction. The proposed map is also valuable for guidelines in CBE's occupational safety and health administration building. © 2024, Construction Research Institute of Malaysia. All rights reserved.
