Objective: Since the concept of STEAM education was introduced into China, its theoretical achievements and teaching system have been continuously promoted and applied. From the initial introduction of relevant theories to most experts and scholars’ attempts to apply it to subject areas, STEAM education has come out of a road with oriental elements. However, there are also imbalances in the exploration of STEAM education, such as the application areas of STEAM education exist in big cities with sufficient education funds and strong teachers, which exacerbate the inequality of education resources between urban and rural areas. Therefore, this paper, in order to promote the wider application of STEAM education in China’s education field, takes music education as an example, and proposes a programme for the implementation of STEAM education concepts. Methodology: The development status of music education in China is studied, the core concepts of STEAM education are elaborated, and the application effect of STEAM teaching concepts in Chinese music education is examined by setting up a teaching experiment process. Results: A music teaching programme was designed and a strategy for assessing music teaching was proposed. Conclusion: In this paper, on the basis of synthesising the characteristics of STEAM education, we apply STEAM-related theories, weigh the nature of the music discipline, and construct a music classroom with STEAM characteristics, so as to provide a reference for the application of STEAM in the field of music. © 2024, Artseduca.
