Description
Summary:Sport hijab is a garment worn by female Muslim athletes to cover their aurah that includes the hair and chest area during physical activities. The comfort of the athletes is a priority so that the performance of the athletes is not affected by any discomforts from their sport attire. This calls for the investigation of sport hijab materials. In this study, thermophysical evaluation for thermoregulatory comfort was measured using SDL Atlas Sweating guarded hot plate (SGH). Ten knitted fabric samples are used. The test gave thermal resistance (Rct) and vapour resistance (Ret) value where calculation for water vapour permeability index (IMT) was made. The study also measured the relationship between IMT with fabric density, fabric thickness and fabric weight. Fabric I gave the best thermal comfort and breathability values with lighter weight (170 gm−2), higher IMT value (0.11093) and suitable density (64 × 50). Fabric E was found to give the least IMT value among all 10 samples as it has the close IMT value to 0 (0.01117). © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
