This paper discusses about Virtual Reality (VR) technology in relation to strategies-thinking. With the advancement of China's rural revitalization and the retaliatory recovery of the tourism industry, there has been a significant change in people's approach to tourism. Travelers now place greater emphasis on regional culture, and there is increasing attention on accommodations, such as rural lodgings, where travelers stay. The study reviews the uniqueness and regional characteristics of accommodations are increasingly being noticed in the field of accommodation design. VR panoramic technology, originating from the perceptual simulation systems that emerged in the 1980s, is an important branch of virtual reality technology. Its emergence quickly became the focus of attention in engineering and technology circles. By employing computer technology, it constructs artificial virtual environments, which are based on static image-based virtual reality technology, to create realistic three-dimensional spaces. VR technology provides an experiential sense based on 3D, allowing individuals to feel as if they are immersed in virtual space, presenting objects within specific spatial contexts. Compared to traditional 2D and 3D technologies, VR technology offers advantages in providing a more immersive real-world experience. The application of VR panoramic technology can combine virtual scenery and interactions with reality, providing clients with a better immersive three-dimensional spatial experience. This study focuses on the transformation and design of characteristic rural accommodations in the Anhui Southern region, researching the application of VR panoramic technology throughout the entire design process of Anhui Southern rural accommodations. By fully leveraging the advantages of VR panoramic technology, such as its realism, comprehensiveness, good interactivity, strong immersion, convenience for designers to inspect problems, more intuitive design renderings, and easy document transmission, this research provides effective technical support for various aspects of Anhui Southern rural accommodation design projects, including measurements, design scheme presentations, regional cultural representations, hidden project records, and accommodation design results archives. Through this research, more innovative strategies for accommodation design and the integration of regional cultures are proposed, thus contributing to further development in this field. © 2024 SPIE.
