Studies on sustainability have been given more attention in recent years. Although there is an increasing body of literature on sustainability, there has been little bibliometric analysis about sustainability and the environmental-social, governance (ESG). This study analyse the literature on sustainability and environmental, social, and governance from (2015–2024). Based on the search in the Scopus database, 148 publications have been analysed, including publication trends, most active institutions and countries, most highly cited documents, and author’s keywords. VOSviewer software was used to analyse the data. The data analysis showed an increase in publications during the analysis period, which indicate this topic evolving in the future. The results show that most papers were published in the English language and most publications were the article type. The findings illustrate that the most active institution is the Jadara University, while the most active country is United States. This review contributes to existing knowledge on sustainability and ESG research field by providing insights into publication trends, citation patterns, and collaboration networks between institutions and countries. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
