Summary: | In today’s dynamic landscape, organisations face unprecedented challenges stemming from societal, business, and technological shifts. Amidst this complexity, Enterprise Architecture (EA) emerges as a critical tool for enhancing the efficiency of information systems. However, the adoption of EA in higher education, notably at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), encounters delays. This study investigates the factors influencing EA adoption at UiTM, employing a quantitative approach with data collected from 160 responses across UiTM campuses in Malaysia. The findings reveal significant pressure factors hindering EA adoption at UiTM, offering actionable insights for effective implementation and decision-making enhancement by the management. The study identifies future research opportunities to enrich perspectives on EA adoption, including cross-institutional comparisons. Recommending a mixed research methodology to ensure robust conclusions, the study highlights that the investigated variables significantly contribute to explaining 76.1% of the variances in factors influencing EA adoption within UiTM. In conclusion, this research underscores the pivotal role of EA in higher education, particularly at UiTM, providing valuable insights into adoption influencers. The outlined recommendations lay the groundwork for further research, fostering a deeper understanding of EA adoption dynamics. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
