By definition, green economy has the ability not just to produce clean energy but also allowing the development of technologies that enable cleaner production process of which reduces environmental impact and allow a sustainable use of natural resource (Chapple, 2008). In this chapter, we would like to present a discussion that focus on giving an overview of the development and progress of the transition towards green economy with the focus given especially on green energy consumption and production in Malaysia. A review will be provided on the Malaysian Government's roles in implementing policies and strategies to promote the use of green energy and encouraging the development of green technology innovation.
