Description
Summary:Serial number restoration refers to scientific techniques of retrieving or restoring a damaged manufacturer's identification. Various techniques have been demonstrated to restore the identification in the literature re-view. However, a non-destructive method is preferable in forensic analysis. The main objective of this paper is to review a few contemporary techniques to restore obliterated serial numbers on vehicles and firearms. Magnetic particle inspection is preferred among these methods due to its effectiveness and portability. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
