Summary: | This study examines how Microsoft Excel's reputation, visual appeal and ease of use affect its use for data visualization tasks. Excel is a popular tool for managing, visualizing and analysing data in many different industries due to its functionality and accessibility. The study focuses on Excel's usability, i.e. its feature-rich user interface, ability to create visually appealing graphics, and overall ease of use. It also examines how users perceive Excel's reliability and trustworthiness and the important role Excel's reputation plays in user preference and loyalty. Based on a structured survey of students who have experience with data analysis, the study concludes that Excel is the better choice for data visualization due to its intuitive design and ability to create attractive and informative graphics. The study highlights Excel's good reputation, which not only shapes user behaviour, but also ensures good word of mouth that expands the platform's user base. According to the study, Excel's reputation, ease of use and visual capabilities are related and have a significant impact on how often it is used for data visualization. The study suggests integrating Excel into academic curricula, emphasizing the pedagogical benefits of Excel, and recommending future research to investigate the impact of Excel in different educational and professional contexts. © 2024 IEEE.
