Description
Summary:The workplace stressor has been shown to have a harmful effect on the health and wellbeing of employees. Similar impacts have been reported, which mentioned that the risk of a psychosocially harmful workplace has resulted in a growing burden of work-related diseases and long-term illness. Hence, there is an obvious need to manage psychosocial job stress in order to reduce the burden of occupational disease and business losses. This paper aims to propose a conceptual framework for understanding work-related stress and its outcome from the person-environment (P-E) fit perspective. Literature searched was conducted based on the keywords of “person-environment fit and work stress and outcome” from three databases with a time frame from 2018-2021. The most recent work stress predictors from the literature are concentrated on the topic of individual and working environment factors. With regards to the study outcome, the recent concerns are on i) employees' outcome and ii) the job or work outcome. This study adds to the body of knowledge on occupational stress by delineating how the P-E fit is linked with work-related stress and the possible outcomes related to both employees and organizational aspects. Thus, future research is suggested to study the inclusive outcome of employees and organizational views together. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
