Description
Summary:Today's Education 4.0 requires academicians to be a step ahead in their professional field by utilizing the latest and sophisticated technologies in their educational field. Advanced software such as R software is widely used in the professional fields nowadays. All academicians are urged to learn and explore R software as a preparation for the advanced and wise method of conducting research and teaching. However, a previous study stated that the use of the R software among university communities is still lacking, as it is only being applied in certain courses. The objective of this study is to discover the exposure of R software in UiTM Pahang using a descriptive statistics method. A logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the factors of R usage among lecturers. Results reveal that most of the lecturers neither have the experience nor utilize R for their work. According to the logistic regression model, only two variables contribute to the R usage among lecturers, which are: (1) gender, and (2) faculty. The Receiver Operating Characteristic curve is 0.8363, which proves that the model has a high ability to distinguish positive and negative cases. The findings of this study will be served as a reference in observing the level of preparedness for the lecturers to switch to R software and utilize it as the primary option. Furthermore, a strategic plan could be done by the institution in approaching and preparing the lecturers to use R efficiently. © 2024 Author(s).
