Summary:Building performance in higher education buildings is evaluated primarily to enhance facility delivery processes, which involves the efficiency of daily learning activities. In practice, simulation technologies have been applied at the design stage to test and analyze the performance of a building. However, while assessing the satisfaction of building users, the evaluation of building performance in post-occupancy is sometimes overlooked. Building users are the people who live in the building and thus understand how it is found to operate significantly concerning the activities that occur within it. This study discusses the results of a post-assessment review of building performance criteria at a higher education building in Kuching, Sarawak, as they relate to the productive and effective teaching and learning process. The research begins by identifying the key building performance criteria based on the basic criteria obtained from the literature review, which are then used to create the questionnaire. Respondents were students from two (2) higher education buildings in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. Next, descriptive-analytic findings were used to analyze the effect of building performance on the efficiency of the learning process. Finally, the survey data are examined and compared to preliminary measurement results. Consequently, a complete and continuous building performance evaluation may benefit in monitoring building performance that is conducive to learning in a higher education institution. © 2023 Author(s).
