Description
Summary:Due to the rapid growth in population size, the demand for sustainable residential increases. Housing areas with a proper facility, service and accessibility assist in a better quality of living among the residents since the parameters that meet their needs can give the satisfaction of place living. This study aims to propose significant parameters and weightage for residential site suitability and determine sustainable residential areas based on selected parameters. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) integrated with the GIS platform was used to examine the suitable parameters and areas with proper facilities supply. The weighted overlay method was applied using the value of computed and scale of parameters to produce the site suitability at Ipoh, Perak. A site suitability map is produced to show three different levels with low, medium and high suitability areas. Health and social care were identified as the most significant parameters while industrial areas, social amenities and recreational areas were identified as less significant parameters. With this result, the decision-making on investing in the right residential property would be able to help buyers to identify the most significant areas that meet their needs. © 2023 AIP Publishing LLC.
