Retirement Villages is a type of elderly housing community that offers a complete range of services from independent living to assisted living in fulfilling the diverse needs of the elderly (seniors). This study aims to provide an in-depth overview of the generational preferences of intention to move to a Retirement Village in Malaysia. The objectives set for this study are as follows: (i) To categorise types of elderly housing; (ii) To determine the generational preferences of intention to move to Retirement Village in Malaysia; and (iii) To study the generational preferences of intention to move to Retirement Village in Malaysia. Case Study: Johor Bahru, Johor. The generations involved in this study are the population categorised by the age cohort, namely The Baby Boomers, Generation X (Gen-X), Generation Y (Gen-Y), and Generation Z (Gen-Z). The study adopted a mixed-methods approach (interviews and questionnaires survey) and revealed the preferred Retirement Villages Preferences by Generations are (i) Location; (ii) Services; (iii) Design Criteria; (iv) Physical Environment; and (v) Social Activities as the preference factor of Retirement Village. This study guides the main actors of the property development and the real estate industry on the preferred Retirement Villages by Malaysian Generations. © 2023 AIP Publishing LLC.
