Summary: | The modelling of a load shedding scheme in the islanded IEEE 33 bus system utilizing AHP and TOPSIS with voltage stability index and load value requirement is an important piece of research that attempts to improve the stability and reliability of power systems. Load shedding is an essential part of the operation of a power system, as it prevents blackouts and system failures. This research seeks to investigate and evaluate AHP and TOPSIS, two multi-criteria decision-making methodologies, for the selection of loads to be shed in a power system. In the analysis, the voltage stability index and load value requirements are also examined. The value of this study can be utilized to enhance the stability and dependability of power systems. This work can also serve as a basis for future research on power systems and multi-criteria decision-making. This study concludes with a complete examination of the AHP and TOPSIS methods for load shedding in power systems, demonstrating the potential for these methods to improve the stability and dependability of power systems. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
