Description
Summary:Extraction of binahong leaf essential oil was carried out using the soxhletation method. This research was conducted to study how the influence of solvent type and the length of extraction time and to determine the optimal soxhletation conditions of binahong leaf essential oil (Anredera Cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis). Soxhletation was carried out with variations in solvents of 96% ethanol, n-hexane, and chloroform and time variations of 4, 5, and 6 hours. The yield of essential oil obtained is affected by extraction time and the solvent type. The volatile oil components obtained from soxhletation are the terpenoid and fatty acid groups. The best yield obtained is 5.23% at 5 hours using 96% ethanol as solvent. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
