Description
Summary:This project is presents the performance of a 4 kWp grid connected photovoltaic system using string inverter for a residential home located in Section 30, Shah Alam, Selangor. The focus of this project is to investigate the actual performance of this system by knowing the solar irradiation (H), energy yield of the system (Y), specific yield (SY) and performance ratio (PR). A raw data of the same week in 3 different years was selected to analyse. From the data analysis, it shows that the system starts operating when there are present of light at 6:55 a.m. and at 19:25 p.m. the system will shut down as the sun goes down. Solar irradiance (G) plays an important role in the system as a source, the current will follow the pattern of G and at 12:15 p.m., it shows the highest power was produced. By referring SEDA book, the design and system performance was created by Microsoft Excel, it shows that the performance ratio of the system is decreasing as the age of the system increases. In year 2021 the PR value is 0.73 which is less than minimum PR that was set by SEDA Malaysia (0.75). In addition, by comparing the of actual and the expected performance, the deviation percentage between both performances shows that the system is over performing for years 2019 and 2020 because the energy measured is higher than the energy expected. However, in year 2021 there is under performing with a percentage of -0.35%. The finding of this project shows that PV owner is satisfied with the overall quality of installation and services provided but is dissatisfied with overall PV system performance. © 2023 Author(s).
