Summary:Nowadays, the issues on conventional reinforced concrete slab due to high concrete consumption and heavy structural weight has been raised up. Therefore, the revolutionary construction method by replacing conventional reinforced concrete slab with bubble deck slab has been promoted as an alternative slab system in order to solve these issues. The bubble deck slab or also called as biaxial hollow slab was invented in 1990s by Jorgen Bruenig from Denmark. This bubble deck slab is constructed by placing bubbles in the middle of slab that replace the ineffective concrete that not performing any structural function, thereby, reducing the self-weight and increasing the slab efficiency. This unique bubble deck slab technology will reduce it self-weight by 30% to 50% compared to conventional reinforced concrete slab. It has a lot of benefits such as reduced cost and materials used, improved structural efficiency, faster construction duration, and also green technology. The purpose of this paper is to review on the bubble deck slab technology according to previous research studies. © 2023 Author(s).
