Summary: | A study was conducted to determine the stumpage value of tree species at Bukit Terendak Forest Reserve, Terengganu, Malaysia. Ten plots of 0.1 ha (50 m x 20 m) each were established, and all trees with a diameter at breast height of 5 cm and above were measured and tagged. A total of 205 trees were recorded, belonging to 27 families, 48 genera, and 65 species. However, only trees with a diameter at breast height of 15 cm and above were included in the enumeration and calculation, which consisted of 139 individuals belonging to 26 families, 43 genera, and 54 species. The total volume of these trees is 118.69 m3/ha, and the basal area is 17.65 m2/ha. The estimated total stumpage value is RM14,763/ha. Dipterocarpaceae gave the highest total value of RM8,436/ha, and at the species level, Shorea platycarpa contributes the largest value at RM8,358/ha. The stumpage value in this study is considered low compared with previous studies in Peninsular Malaysia. This situation is due to the relatively low abundance of commercial species in peat swamp forests and the lack of big trees compared to other forest habitats. © 2023 Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia.
