Description
Summary:Oil palm biomass is one of the major wastes that has been generated from the palm oil industry. As there has been a growing concern on the rising of oil palm biomass on the environmental issues over the last decade, therefore a lot of research has been carried out to convert oil palm biomass into value-added products, such as biochar. In order to produce biochar, the influence of different types of pyrolysis using either conventional or modern technologies on the yield and properties of biochar was discussed. In addition, some of the challenges in promoting biochar to a potential market are highlighted as well. Producing biochar from oil palm biomass can potentially lead to a better environmental, societal, and economic growth for the oil palm industry definitely and improves sustainability from a global perspective. © 2022 WILEY-VCH GmbH.
