要約:Mango peel is known to have various beneficial properties, mainly phenolic compounds that can be incorporated into nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and functional food products. However, the availability of bioactive constituents in mango peel, mainly phenolic compounds, varies with cultivars, maturation stages, and the extraction method used. Mango peel consists of various potential bioactive constituents such as polyphenols, primarily mangiferin and anthocyanin, carotenoids and pectin, which has benefits to human for the prevention and treatment of various diseases. These bioactive compounds may attribute to the bioactivities of mango peel as an antioxidant, anti-diabetic, antimicrobial, antiproliferative, hyperlipidemia and lipid peroxidation properties. The formulation of nutraceutical products based on mango peel includes food hydrocolloid, food fortification, edible film and coating, and probiotic and prebiotic products. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022, Corrected Publication 2023.
