The urban heat island effect is the result of the rapid development of urbanization, and modern life creates huge amounts of heat. Land surface temperature is a key parameter to measure the water and heat balance of the Earth's surface and an important index to reflect the urban heat island effect. Retrieving land surface temperature by remote sensing technology is a commonly used method at present. Remote sensing monitoring method is the biggest advantage of the continuity of data acquisition, integrity, and real time, so as to make up and overcome the shortcomings of traditional methods and can reveal the spatial distribution of urban heat island from the macro and change rule, but also from the micro level to reveal spatial and temporal variation characteristics of heat island effect, thus to alleviate provide more scientific conclusion on the basis of the urban heat island effect. This paper uses remote sensing technology to retrieve the land surface temperature in Shapingba District of Chongqing in recent 20 years. By analyzing the land surface temperature data, and comparing with the data of land use type change in this area,to provide the basis for the future urban construction planning in this area. © 2023 SPIE.
