Description
Summary:This study explores the capability of HD VideoCam-Kinovea as a reliable approach to perform motion analysis and to compute the relative angle of ankle during walking. The motion capture and analysis procedures were conducted at the Biomechanics Lab, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Omiya Campus, Japan. To perform the analysis, a healthy subject with mean BMI of 28.60 ± 1.40 was recruited. A platform was set up and the subject was assigned to walk on it for the required times. The walking gait of the subject was recorded concurrently for 10 times by using recognizable infrared motion capture system, Hawk-Cortex, and a HD VideoCam in the plane that is at the longitudinal axis to the subject. The walking gait pattern recorded by the infrared cameras were analyzed by the Cortex, whereas the recording from the HD VideoCam were examined by the Kinovea software. As can be seen from this study, the HD VideoCam-Kinovea has the potential to become a reliable motion capture and analysis system. From the eight output analyzed by Kinovea, six of them have a percentage difference between 0.82% to 4.07% when compared to the other method, Cortex. This shows the capability of Kinovea in performing reliable analysis. Besides, it is also relatively more economical and easier to utilize. It can be concluded that the results have contributed to enhance the importance of knowledge related to motion capture-analysis, walking gait and the implementation of HD VideoCam-Kinovea in motion analysis. © 2022 IEEE.
