Description
Summary:Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are high-efficiency cogeneration devices that can improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of various fuels: hydrocarbon, coal gas, biomass, hydrogen, and other renewable fuels. Several types of SOFCs have been used in a variety of applications, including grid-scale, stationary, and portable power generation. Ceramic materials with high chemical stability, good mechanical strength, and low activation energy are used in SOFC technology. However, the high cost of the catalyst and its operating conditions are significant barriers to commercialization. This review summarises current progress in SOFC development, focusing on; (i) current trends and publication patterns and (ii) challenges and opportunities in the SOFC advancements. © 2022
