Description
Summary:Digital technology is swiftly getting more advanced as time passes. At the same time, image transfer also becomes more commonplace. An image may contain confidential data or is copyrighted, thus being subject to unauthorized use when it goes online. To greatly reduce that risk, a method that can be used to protect the image is called digital image watermarking. Digital image watermarking is the act of embedding a watermark into an image for the purpose of protection. However, it is still possible to remove or impair the watermark, whether by intentional or non-intentional attacks. Two important metrics to be consider against these attacks are imperceptibility and robustness. Throughout several literatures, new algorithms are constantly being proposed and evaluated in the search for the perfect balance between imperceptibility and robustness. In addition, the use of cryptosystem and transform domain techniques in digital watermarking provide a high level of security. This paper aims to review on some of the techniques used by recent researchers for secure, robust and imperceptible image watermarking. It is concluded that the methods which are able to control different levels of noise and produce high image quality, as well as provide security are considered to be the best algorithm in digital image watermarking. © 2021 IEEE.
