Summary:This study explains the preservation of Malaysian identity in jewelry necklace design through a semantic differential (SD) scale that has been done through the teaching and learning process amongst 18 final year diploma students from the department of fine metal design at UiTM Machang Campus. The objectives of this study are to examine the overall meaning and specificity of Malaysian identity in necklace product design, to evaluate the effectiveness of the preservation of Malaysian identity in necklace product design, and to generate the findings of this study in the form of academic and industry guidelines for the social and economic well-being of the people. There are six professional judges involved in the decision-making of four components with 10 items in four types of scoring for each necklace design of each student. All four components outlined are design, materials, techniques and motives; while the 10 items are defined in style, form, source, originality, stone setting, motifs making, form outlining, jointing, application and decoration that listed to be assessed as items in the highest scoring, items in moderate scoring, items in low scoring and products in high-to-low scoring. © 2020, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.
