Description
Summary:This paper presents a dual band rectangular Dielectric Resonator Antenna (RDRA). The rectangular dielectric resonator made from alumina is designed on FR4 substrate. The performance of the proposed antenna in terms of return loss, radiation pattern, gain and bandwidth are observed and analysed using CST Microwave Studio software. The simulated dual band resonance frequencies of 7 GHz and 7.96 GHz are achieved. The antenna is fabricated and measured to validate the simulation results. A very good congruence of return loss is demonstrated between simulated and measured results. The measured gain is higher than simulated gain with up to 7.57 dB at 7 GHz. The widest bandwidth of approximately 4.38% is measured at 8 GHz. Thus, this DRA offers a potential multiband operation for wireless communication application. © 2018 IEEE.
