Summary: | Electricity has been a huge part of growth and economic development of a country. More energy generation are needed in producing electricity at the best cost. To meet this demand Malaysia adopts a Single Buyer Market model in handling its electricity supply industry. Right now, in this New Enhanced Dispatch Arrangement (NEDA) market operation there are lack of non-IPP participants. There is lack of in-depth analysis to identify and classify the impact of non IPP participant in NEDA on the economic dispatch cost. The objective of this study is to model optimum NEDA under Single Buyer framework using Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm and to study the impact of non-IPP participation such as renewable generation in NEDA on economic dispatch cost. The results show that the ACO can generate an optimum dispatch schedule of NEDA at a minimum cost. The findings in this research shows that the participant of renewable energy in the NEDA model has lowering the economic dispatch cost compares to the existing NEDA model. The impact of non IPP presented in NEDA has been analysed, and the economic dispatch cost has seen reduced. The non IPP helps improve the economic dispatch cost and produced a lower cost. © 2019 IEEE.
