The use of digital media is progressively increasing in the exhibition halls of malaysian museums. The acceptance of the digital technology in museum exhibitions is dependent on the accessibility of the visitor towards the digital approach. Accessibility to technology is necessary for one to be a digital native. However, past researchers have paid little attention to the ‘digital natives’ and ‘digital immigrants’ categories in museums. Based on this concern, this paper aims to classify the museum visitors into digital natives and digital immigrants based on their ages and behaviours through an in-depth relevant literature review study. There is no consistency of ages to differentiate the digital natives and digital immigrants been reported. A thematic analysis was conducted on the division of the behaviour. This paper recommends a minimalist, interactive multimedia, playful, and responsive digital exhibition for the digital native visitor. Whilst, the digital immigrant visitor needs to assimilate incorporation with the development of technology in the museum and the generations of digital natives to stay relevant in the digital era. © 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.
