Description
Summary:In oil and gas supply base industry, the working environment is always associated with high risk activities such as dealing with heavy equipment and transportation, high temperature and high pressure equipment. Based on these activities, the personnel are exposed to various kinds of hazards and safety issues are one of the biggest concerns for the management apart from focusing on the production. In this context, the objective of safety is simply to ensure people do not get hurt in the workplace. However, in practice it is difficult for an organization to achieve a sustained safe performance while dealing with significant hazards. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the major factor that supports safety compliance among oil and gas supply base personnel. There are three factors included in this study, which are psychological, behavioral and situational factor. A set of questionnaire has been used to collect the data and it was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. The finding was revealed that psychological factor is the main factor that supports safety compliance among personnel in Oil and Gas Suppy Base. Apart from that, this study also has can contribute in the effort to enhance safety compliance among the personnel especially in their workplace. By achieving zero non-compliance with safety regulations, the risk of accidents and incidents in the oil and gas industry can be reduced. © 2018 Author(s).
