Description
Summary:This study identifies the risk factors that influence food security faced by the elderly during the Sungai Pahang basin flood disaster. The data collection was done qualitatively via a semi structured interview with eight selected individuals affected by the floods. The risks which were analyzed thematically indicated that the elderly mainly had poor appetite and had very little or no accessibility to food during the disaster. The study concludes that the elderly is a vulnerable group with different needs and food insecurities in an emergency situation and therefore requires special attention. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
