Summary:Managing disaster effectively especially during response and recovery phase need an accurate decision based on years of experience and knowledge hence, the need of experts to support responders during disasters response and recovery process. Although experts may not be available all the time, computerized systems may assist responders in managing disaster effectively. 407 respondents which are responsible in making decisions during disasters from lead responding agency in Malaysia were selected to answer sets of structured Likert scale questionnaire in order to obtain their views on the importance of having experts in effectively managing disasters, especially during response and recovery phase. Results indicate that majority of the respondent (more than 80%) agree on the needs of expertise in assisting lead responding agency in Malaysia in managing disasters hence, the importance and the need of an integrated disaster management system for lead responding agency in Malaysia during response and recovery phase. © 2016 International Information Institute.
