Summary: | This paper presents a preliminary study on Lean Manufacturing (LM) implementation in the Malaysian food and beverage industry. A survey has been conducted to gauge the extent of LM practices implemented in the organizations. The findings show that the organizations are at the infancy level in terms of implementing LM practices. It can be seen from the Person mean, which is at -0.67 logit. Most of the LM practices in each of the 5 domains studied were not implemented by the majority of the respondents. It was also found that pull production is not being implemented in the same industry. This indicates that LM is not completely accepted throughout the food and beverage industry in Malaysia. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. |
