The knowledge on handover behaviour in WiMAX network is essential for network management and planning in order to achieve optimum system throughput. In this paper we have analysed the handover behaviour of transparent relay in several configurations for the IEEE 802.16j Mobile Multihop Relay (MMR) WiMAX network. The simulation was performed using NCTUns tool and adopted the hard handover mechanism for three different relay network topologies with varying mobile station speeds. The result shows the handover for internal network is faster than the external network and by appropriate relay deployment the system throughput can be increased up to 14.39%.
