Summary: | This article is intend to discuss the effect of exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR) on exhaust emission of an inline 4 diesel engine operating with biodiesel. The biodiesel is derived from palm oil as a feedstock. The engine is used without any modification for both fuels. The biodiesel fuel was supplied by the local manufacturer in Kuantan, Malaysia. The properties of the fuel supply are complying with EN14214 standard. The experimental work is conducted on a diesel engine at static conditions. The experimental result demonstrates that the exhaust gas recirculation gave a positive result towards the reduction of NOx in the exhaust gas. However, emission of CO, CO2 and THC are marginally increased. Copyright © 2013 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
